SC Commission takes suo moto notice, summons Director and Nodal Officer Census Punjab

Chandigarh, May 06:

Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has taken suo moto action regarding the use of anti-social words for Valmiki and Mazhabi community in census forms and has summoned the Director and State Nodal Officer of Census Welfare Department Punjab.

Giving information in this regard, Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Chairman S. Jasvir Singh Garhi said that the matter regarding the use of anti-social words for Valmiki and Mazhabi community has come to his notice through social media and newspapers.  In this regard, the Commission, taking suo moto notice, has summoned Dr. Navjot Khosa, Director, Census Welfare Department, Punjab, and Manjit Singh Brar, Nodal Officer, Census Welfare Department, Punjab, on a personal basis at the Commission office on 13-05-2026.
