Hyderabad: Yet another case of alleged ‘triple talaq’ over WhatsApp came to light in the city on Monday. However, it came to light several days after a case was registered by the Sanatnagar police.
The victim, Sumaina Sharfi, spoke to the media on Monday recalling how her Non-Resident Indian (NRI) husband gave her talaq on WhatsApp in November, 2016. Sanatnagar police had registered a case against her husband Owaisi Talib.
“I got married in 2015. I was kicked out of the house by my husband after several months. My father came to my rescue and took me away last year. Later on several occasions I tried to reach my husband, who on and off visited Dubai. On November 28, 2016 I received a message on Whatsapp, where in my husband stated triple talaq,” Sumaina said.
Based on her complaint, police registered a case under 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 506 (intimidation) of IPC.
