New Delhi: Putting a spanner in the works of the much-touted Tata Camelot Housing Project, proposed to be built near Chandigarh’s Sukhna Lake in Punjab territory, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday ruled that its construction could not be allowed as it was located in the catchment area of the lake.
A two member bench of the High Court, constituted by Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw, set aside permission for bringing up the project, which was granted by the gram panchayat of Sukhna catchment area village and endorsed by Punjab government.
The High Court issued the order on a plea filed by advocate Aalok Jagga against the grant of approval by various authorities to the Tata housing project.
The court also set aside the environmental clearances given by the authorities concerned for the project.
