NEW DELHI: On Monday, an army soldier arrested carrying two live grenades at Srinagar’s civil airport, police said.
Soon after the arrest, the man, identified as Rifle man Bhupal Mukhia, was taken to the police station in central Kashmir’s Humama for interrogation.
Mukhia told the police he was carrying the grenades so he could cause a blast in the river from which he wanted to catch fish.
“Mukhia was arrested by the anti-hijacking squad at the airport,” said police officer, adding that the man is a resident of village Bhosoli Gaom in Darjeeling.
