Chandigarh: Gurmehar Kaur, the Delhi University student who had taken a stand against Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for the Ramjas College student clash, tweeted on Tuesday to withdraw from the anti-ABVP campaign.
Speaking from Jalandhar, Gurmehar’s grandfather Kamaljit Singh has appealed to the media to desist from stretching the issue out of proportions. He requested the media to stop proliferating trivial matters related to the issue.
Daughter of an Army martyr, Gurmehar originally hails from Jalandhar.
In her tweet that had set the twitterati afire, Gurmehar had protested against the high-handedness of ABVP supporters saying that she was not afraid of them and had the support of every Indian student on the issue.
