I gave up my Rajya Sabha seat for Punjab: Navjot Sidhu

Amritsar: Addressing the media here on Saturday, cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu said that he chose to join Congress for welfare of Punjab.
About his departure from BJP, Sidhu implied that the SAD government was detrimental to the welfare of the state saying, “BJP chose the coalition, and I chose Punjab.” At the same time he maintained that he did not harbor any ill-will against the BJP.
Sidhu, who also hosts the popular comedy show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ along with Kapil Sharma, maintained that he gave up his Rajya Sabha seat for Punjab and that politics was not a profession but a mission for him.
Sidhu is contesting from the Amritsar (East) constituency, a seat that has been the stronghold of his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu.
