New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has rejected allegations of EVMs tempering, said such allegations are “wild and baseless.”

BSP supremo Mayawati and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal raised questions on the EVMs after getting massive defeat on 11 march in Assembly elections.

Terming the results as “shocking”, Mayawati had said the Election Commission should stop the counting and withhold results and hold fresh polls using traditional paper ballots.

However, the Election Commission had rejected Mayawati’s claims and said her demand for a repoll using ballot papers was legally untenable.

Mayawati announced her decision to move court against the alleged tampering of the EVMs on wednesday and she was later joined by Akhilesh Yadav.

On the other hand, Kejriwal claimed that around 20 to 25 per cent of its votes may have been “transferred” to the SAD-BJP coalition.
