Chandigarh, July 24 : Punjab Government has placed DSP Barnala Satvir Singh, under suspension for allegedly resorting to lathi-charge against sanitation workers during a recent protest in Barnala.The Punjab State Safai Karamchari Commission had  intervened in this matter.

Sharing details, Chairman, Punjab State Safai Karamchari Commission, Chandan Grewal said the Commission had taken serious note of the incident and had urged the State Government to initiate immediate disciplinary action.

Chandan Grewal further informed that the Station House Officer, Barnala has also been transferred in connection with the matter.

Reiterating the State Government’s stand, the Chairman said, _“The Punjab Government is firmly committed to the welfare of sanitation workers and to safeguarding their rights and dignity.
