Shambhu Barrier (Rajpura): Keeping in view the unprecedented digging of SYL canal in Punjab territory, planned by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Thursday, the Punjab police has diverted the route passing through the border check post here.
The road will remain closed on Thursday.
To prevent individuals from assembling in the area, the administration has implemented section 144 and have pressed 10 extra battalions of paramilitary forces into action. The barrier near the Shambhu village has virtually been converted into a police cantonment.
Shambhu barrier is the main transit point between Punjab and Haryana in Patiala district.
