Chandigarh: The reservation debate in Haryana saw another aspect added to it subsequent to a petition filed by Thakur Shakti Singh challenging the government on the issue.
In his petition, Thakur has cited the judgement in Indra Sawhney case which caps the maximum reservation given in a state at 50%. Haryana has already crossed this limit with reservation in government jobs touching 70 per cent.The state has only 30 per cent of the jobs available for the general category.
The High Court has issued a notice to the Haryana government in this regard. The next date for hearing has been fixed for March 3.
