Dehradun: Former Uttarakhand BJP chief Trivendra Singh Rawat took oath here today as the chief minister of Uttrakhand after the huge victory of BJP in assembly elections on March 11.
The 57 years old Trivendra Rawat will be the fifth BJP chief minister in Uttarakhand.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah were the top leaders present in the oath ceremony under the administration of Governor KK Paul.
Satpal Maharaj, Harak Singh Rawat, Madan Kaushik, Arvind Pandey, Subodh Uniyal, Yashpal Arya and Prakash Pant also took oath as the cabinet Ministers.
This was his third win from the constituency since 2002 as Rawat defeated the Congress’s Hira Singh Bisht in the Doiwala constituency with a margin of over 24,000 votes.
Rawat has considerable administrative experience as he was a minister in the BJP governments led by B C Khanduri and Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
he party formed its first government in the state when it was carved out of Uttar Pradesh in 2000, with Nityanand Swami as the first Chief Minister. Swami was replaced by BJP’s B.S. Koshyari in March 2001.
