Chandigarh news: Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak emphasized the importance of proper upkeep and maintenance of plantations in the state during a review meeting. The department plans to plant around 6 million saplings under various schemes, starting from July 1st. Additionally, 382 Nanak Bagichis and 52 Pavittar Van will be planted, along with institutional plantations in 331 hectares.
The Minister was informed that saplings have been planted around 94% of the state’s 1.366 million tube wells. He appreciated the exceptional plantation work on the Chandigarh-Phagwara road and directed officers to replicate it on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh road.
The Minister also instructed officials to remove dead plants and replace them with fresh saplings, ensuring visibility of plantations. He emphasized timely completion of ongoing schemes and encouraged public participation in plantation drives.
