New Delhi: A seven judge bench headed by chief Justice J S Khehar issued bailable warrant against sitting judge of Calcutta High Court judge C S Karnan on Friday, after he refused to abide by its order to be personally present before it in a contempt proceeding against him.
Justice J S Khehar said that the bench was left with no option but to issue warrant to ensure his presence in court to face contempt charges for making baseless allegations against retired and sitting judges of Supreme Court and Madras high court.
he apex court entrusted the task of serving the warrant to DGP of West Bengal and posted the case for hearing to March 31.
It issued bailable warrant against Justice Karnan to the sum of Rs 10,000.
