Kochi: While delivering the 6th KS Rajamony Memorial Lecture in Kerala’s Kochi district on Thursday President Pranab Mukherjee said that there should be no room in India for the intolerant Indian. Those in universities must engage in reasoned discussion and debate rather than propagate a culture of unrest.

“Universities are doing talks about sedition, freedom of speech and expression but Faculty and students must engage themselves in reasoned discussion and debate rather than propagating culture of disorder/conflict”, said Pranab.

After Gurmeher Kaur, University student gave bold remarks of peace over war ,ABVP supporters in DU held themselves in the debates of free speech and nationalism. Pranab believes that there must be space for legitimate criticism and dissent.

Talking about the universities which are concerned for peace, he referred to Nalanda and Takshashila as “representations of the idea for free thought” and that it is through premier institutions that will help push India into a knowledge society.
