Patiala: A police officer was arrested on the charges of assaulting a pregnant woman and her mother in-law here on Wednesday.
Woman and her mother in-law went for the checkup at civil dispensary where he assaulted her in a drunken state.
As per the statements of victim’s father in-law, He said that the police officer had stopped them and started abusing them for no reason, and when he reached on the spot, officer’s family had taken him inside their home as he always tease the woman in this area.
“I demand to suspend him from the police department”, he added.
While talking to media, victim’s mother in law said that they went for medical checkup as she is eight months pregnant and the policeman in uniform stopped them and started abusing us, after that he pushed her daughter in-law.
Investigating Inspector stated that the name of the officer is Joginder Singh and appointed at Bakshiwala Police Station,
“We had arrested him right after the complaint in drunken condition”, said inspector.
