Chandigarh: The Reserve Bank of India on Monday increased the per day cash withdrawal limit from ATMs to Rs 24,000.
In a circular issued on January 30, RBI has removed the daily limit for withdrawal of cash from ATMs but at the same time has retained the weekly limit at Rs 24,000. This in effect means that individual account holders can withdraw Rs 24,000 in one day.
The apex bank, however, has left it to the individual banks to fix the maximum withdrawal limit per day or per transaction as was the practice before demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
The new limit will be applicable from February 1.
Presently, the account holders can withdraw Rs 10,000 from their accounts in one day.
The RBI has also removed the cash withdrawal limit from current accounts to further ease liquidity in the monetary system.
